Throw your Name up on the Wall

The intimate, rhythmic sound of sprayed graffiti
Draws character from sprawling, urban attics.
Attuned alarm clocks alert desperate, embossed,
Dehumanized teensters, full of street.

With latex statements seeping sadness
through sandstone saying
Yes! to ALL party members taking
stratified poles on adolescent opinions.
Yes! Tomorrow’s generation sprays
A secular and disrespected path.

Callused finger tips pointing opposition to clenched fists.
On porous, decayed brick, brackish bubbles heighten
Awareness: empowered script, co-plaintive canvases.

Bitter tongues spew cinders filled with aerosol
Fumes for nagging suspicions; sparks erupt.
A vagrant blend, saturated with
Their violet revolt of compromise.

Destroyed and polished: Painters’ profit gone.
Broken brick chips: a Rebels’ protest cry.
