We are extra harsh on prose submissions. There is no reason for this whatsoever, yet we feel there is nothing we can do about it. Send something that you can’t believe you wrote.

• Submit 1 previously unpublished story. Stories that have been previously published online (blogs included) or in print will not be considered. Please do not send them. No minimum, but a maximum of 10,000 words. Shorter pieces are preferred.
• Feel free to include a short commentary about your piece that would possibly be published along with your story. Include a brief third-person bio.
• Simultaneous submissions are fine, though we ask you let us know if a story has been accepted elsewhere.
• Let us know if you were born or currently live in Ohio! Do not apologize if you are not from Ohio. We like all humans regardless of place of birth.
• Send your prose to submissions@silencedpress.com and have your subject line read “prose submission.” Please send your story as an individual MS Word attachment, along with a cover letter with your contact information.

Payment: You have the option to pay a submission fee of $3, in which case you will be compensated $15 per published piece. Submissions without a submission fee will be considered for publication but not for payment.
